2.4.5. If an owner can not be contacted or refuses treatment in the event of an emergency injury or illness, AKC or DAHA approved vets/DAHA stable management reserve the right to treat the animal accordingly to avoid unnecessary suffering. The owner is responsible for all costs.

2.4.6. In the event of a severe injury or illness it is at the discretion of AKC or DAHA approved vets/DAHA stable management to euthanize a horse without the owner's presence or permission. All reasonable efforts to contact the owner will be made, if time allows. Two professionals (AKC or DAHA approved Vet/Stable Manager/Instructor) need to be present and in agreement.

2.4.7. Every horse needs to be seen by a farrier no less than every 8 weeks, but ideally 6 weeks. Unless advised otherwise by a professional (AKC Vet/Stable Manager/Instructor). Farriers must be approved by the DAHA Stable Manager and the Board.

Following dewormers, vaccinations, hoof trimming or other health/condition issues, horses must be exercised with caution and based on professional (AKC or DAHA approved Vet, Approved Farrier) instructions. This includes but is not limited to: no riding 24 hours after sedation and limited, light work (no sweating) after vaccinations. Lessons/schooling for impacted horses will not be scheduled during that period.

2.5. Freedom of fear and distress

2.5.1. For safety reasons and to avoid stress every horse needs a groom that is suitably experienced for its individual character and needs. The assignment is done by the DAHA Stable Manager and may be changed at any point if required. Owners will be informed of temporary or permanent changes.

2.5.2. Training methods banned under FEI rules are also banned at DAHA (incl. but not limited to barring, excess use of the whip, any excess restrictions on head & neck — rollkur). Other methods (including but not limited to chasing, excessive fast riding, mis-use of spurs) and equipment used must not incite stress or pain to a horse, in the opinion of the Stable Manager or Riding Instructor.

2.5.3. Exercise must consider the horse's experience, ability and fitness, taking into consideration the weather conditions on any given day. No horse may be ridden past the point of visible exhaustion (dripping/foaming sweat, heavy panting).

3.2.12. Ownership of any horse at DAHA can be transferred between two DAHA members. The transfer request is to be sent to the Stable Manager and all accounts have to be settled with the Business Manager. The transfer is completed once the "Transfer Certificate" has been issued by the Stable Manager. Until then the horse remains the legal and financial responsibility of the current owner.

3.2.13. No horse can be permanently removed from the DAHA facility until all accounts are settled and an "Exit Permission" has been obtained from the Stable Manager. 3.3.2. All incoming horses (except from other Aramco facilities) must enter quarantine before being allowed into the stables or contact with other horses. During quarantine the horses will be tested for glanders, dewormed and will be vaccinated against rabies and tetanus, unless the owner can provide proof of up to date vaccinations.

3.3.3. The Saudi Aramco veterinarians shall be empowered to order the horse removed from DAHA premises if they consider the horse has any contagious condition, or order the owner to carry out any treatment considered necessary for the benefit of the horse or to protect the other horses at DAHA. If there is reason to believe other infectious diseases may be present in a horse, the AKC Vet will perform further necessary tests to rule out any risk for people or the DAHA herd.
